Xylem Diagram

Xylem is a crucial tissue in plants that transports water and nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plant. Xylem is made up of several types of Specialized cells like – Vessel Elements, Tracheids, Fibers and Parenchyma Cells.

Description of Xylem diagram labels is as follows

Xylem tracheids – A type of xylem cell that is long and tapered, with thin cell walls that are reinforced with lignin. Tracheids are involved in water transport and provide structural support.

Xylem Vessel –  A type of xylem cell that is long and cylindrical, with perforated end walls that allow water to flow freely through the tissue.

Xylem parenchyma – A type of xylem cell that is relatively small and thin-walled, and is involved in storage and metabolism.

Xylem fiber – A type of xylem cell that is long and thin, with thick cell walls that provide structural support.

Bordered pit  A specialized structure in the cell walls of xylem cells that allows for communication between adjacent cells.

Cytoplasm –  The fluid inside a cell that contains the cell’s organelles and other components.

Simple pit-  A small, round opening in the cell wall of xylem cells that allows for water to move from one cell to another.

Nucleus –  The central organelle in a cell that contains genetic material and controls the cell’s activities.

Pits –  Small openings in the cell walls of xylem cells that allow for water to move between adjacent cells.
