The pancreas, located in the abdomen, plays a crucial role in digestion and hormone production. Its exocrine function includes the production of digestive enzymes such as amylase, lipase and protease. As an endocrine gland, it releases insulin and glucagon to regulate blood sugar levels. In addition, the pancreas supports the immune system and maintains fluid balance in the body.
